The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Fuensanta García, attended yesterday the home of the pensioner José Espinosa de Lo Pagán who hosted the celebration of "Grandparents Day", a commemoration to which each year the homes of the town add up with a great success of participation
Thus, some 300 seniors enjoyed the program of activities that began at 12:30 pm, with the performance of the choir and an emotional text dotted with anecdotes and memories, followed by a mass and a meal to close the day with dancing .
The mayor highlighted the important role of local households in favoring that older people remain active and have leisure alternatives and, for their part, the presidents of the Pension Associations of Lo Pagán and San Pedro, Pedro Vicente Sánchez and Mª Cleofé Pascual, thanked the City Council for the support in the different activities they carry out throughout the year.
