This meeting, organized by the Department of Social Welfare, through the Gypsy Development Program, is part of the activities scheduled for November 25.
The Social Services building today hosted a coffee gathering under the motto "Gypsy woman today, a look into the future", framed in the activities of the International Day for the Elimination of gender violence.
After the presentation, by the Councilor for Citizen Participation Zoilo Ballester and the representatives of the associations Kalochí Kaló, FAGA Murcia, and Fundación Secretariado Gitano, who highlighted the importance of carrying out workshops like this, which call for the participation of the Gypsy women in society.
Subsequently, the participants in this workshop have jointly analyzed the double discrimination they have suffered in many areas because they are women and gypsies.
Women also analyzed gypsy history and culture, as well as the role of women within the family in this culture.
They have also talked about aspects in which they have advanced and improved with respect to the situation of previous generations.
During the meeting, the participants enjoyed traditional sweets made by the women of the Kalochí Kaló association.
