These actions are endowed with more than 250,000 euros and aim to support and boost those economic sectors most affected by the Mar Menor situation.
The Councilor for Finance, José Fernández, along with the Councilors for Commerce and Fairs, Javier Castejón, and Tourism and Fishing, Silvia Egea, have presented this package of 30 extraordinary measures to support the fishing, tourism and commercial sectors.
Thus, the councilor of Finance explained that, after the anoxia episode registered in the Mar Menor last October, the City Council has demanded from the competent administrations actions for its Environmental Recovery, while taking measures from the scope municipal, as the actions included in this initiative to support the most affected economic sectors.
Thus, promotional actions will be carried out, such as the realization of audiovisual campaigns by seasons of the different sectors, a greater presence in tourism, commerce and hospitality fairs, or promotional actions with athletes, artists, etc., who visit the town and promote in turn San Pedro del Pinatar.
The adaptation of spaces will also be carried out, with the improvement of the facilities in the sludge area, in coordination with the Natural Environment, the provision of lighting and sports elements on the Villananitos sports beach, the installation of charging points for electric cars, and a caravan parking lot.
In the tourism field, synergies with specialized operators will also be sought, cycling tourism will be promoted with the inclusion in the Eurovelo network and the creation of a catalog of bicycle routes;
New urban routes to places of interest will also be designed, sports teams will be sponsored to show the image of the town and the beach opening period of the beach bars will be extended to 11 months.
The tourist information points will also be energized and updated with digital screens that will offer 24-hour information service and a new tourism website will be created with an English version.
In the area of ​​commerce and hospitality, a complete web and physical commercial guide of the establishments of San Pedro del Pinatar will be created, training for merchants and entrepreneurs will be expanded, communication campaigns for entrepreneurs will be carried out and promoted and put into Value the Lo Pagán Fair, creating the image of an open amusement park.
Among other measures, a catalog of commercial stores available to buy or rent will be made, an advisory service in "visual merchandising" will be made available to businesses and access to electronic sales will be facilitated.
In the area of ​​fisheries, an extraordinary and timely line of aid will be made available to fishermen for those families who have not had access to those of other administrations, and support for the support of the Museum of the Sea will also be granted and for the maintenance expenses of the Fishermen's Association, in addition to carrying out a campaign to promote artisanal fisheries.
For the execution of these 30 measures, budget items for a total of 251,500 euros have been committed, of which 80,000 euros correspond to expenditure in the 2019 budget and 171,500 euros are included in the 2020 budget.
In addition to these measures, there is a budgetary reinforcement of the Commerce and Tourism items in 2020, investments such as the remodeling of the promenades or fiscal measures, among which the 99% bonus of public occupation of chairs and tables for the hospitality industry.
