The municipality reinforces in the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (FITUR) the tourist campaign "Paraíso Salado", which has salt as a unifying element of the Natural Park of Salinas and Arenales, the outdoor spa of the Mud of the Mar Menor or the Fish and salted fish.
The Councilor for Tourism of San Pedro del Pinatar, Silvia Egea, today presented at the stand of the Murcia Region of FITUR the local tourism offer for 2020, which reinforces the "Salty Paradise" campaign, highlighting the tourism offer of Nature, health and wellness and gastronomy.
In the area of ​​Nature tourism, the councilor recalled that San Pedro del Pinatar has the Salinas y Arenales Park, an area of ​​856 hectares with a peculiar landscape dominated by salt ponds, natural beaches, pine groves and dunes.
From the City Council, more than twenty free tourist routes are promoted each year to publicize this space, with different proposals, from short and accessible routes, to bicycle routes, under the moonlight or specialized in bird watching , for ornithology fans.
In addition, the councilor stressed that work is being done to improve the access, paths and signage of the Regional Park, by the Natural Environment.
A work that will be completed throughout the year with the improvement and adaptation of the Paseo de La Mota.
As for health and wellness tourism, it is one of the most entrenched lines in San Pedro del Pinatar, thanks to the famous sludge from the salt ponds, which make up the largest outdoor spa in Europe and which has been the germ for commissioning and consolidation of various thermal centers specialized in thalassotherapy and lodotherapy, which combine curative and preventive treatments with others of beauty and maintenance.
The third pillar of this campaign is gastronomy, with products such as fish and shellfish, the traditional cauldron or salted fish, of millenarian origin and that are born together with salt and salt exploitation as a means of conservation.
This raw material has derived in a quality hotel sector, so this year measures will be carried out to value both this sector and the local product, as well as specialized routes and fairs, in addition to activities framed in the gastronomic capital of Murcia 2020
Silvia Egea has pointed out that the City Council is also working to promote active tourism, through three pillars such as bicycle touring, nautical and sports tourism.
In this area, the municipality's capacity to host nautical events and activities has been highlighted, with four marinas and specialized centers.
He also recalled that San Pedro del Pinatar is a preferred destination for European football thanks to the Pinatar Arena sports complex, since this year official center of lower categories of the Royal Spanish Football Federation;
references to which the commitment to cycle tourism has added, with the accession to the European Eurovelo network and the creation of specific routes.
The presentation has included the projection of three promotional videos that show the triple aspect of the "Savory Paradise" campaign and the distribution of salt from the Salinas de San Pedro and soap made from sea mud.
