This citizen participation body, made up of councilors from the various political parties, municipal technicians, and representatives of associations of various kinds, has analyzed the actions to be carried out in the Mar Menor and its ecological state, the European Life Salinas project, the municipal budget by 2020 and the implementation of the II Municipal Equality Plan.
The plenary hall of the City Council today hosted the session of the City Social Council, the highest citizen participation body of the municipality, chaired by the mayor, Visitación Martínez, and in which the general director of the Mar Menor, Miriam Pérez, explained in which state is the Mar Menor and the actions that are being carried out and that will be carried out therein.
Thus he explained that the Autonomous Community will invest 23 million in the protection and recovery of the Mar Menor, through the implementation of measures such as the monitoring of the environment, to observe all the parameters, the cleaning of the Mar Menor, the creation of a species bank counting on the most emblematic species of the lagoon, an oxygenation project to avoid anoxia from bioreactors that generate the cleanliness of the water that can penetrate the Mar Menor, etc.
In another of the points of the day, the Director of the Life Salinas Project, Gustavo Ballesteros, explained the state of execution of this project, subsidized by the EU for actions in the field of nature, biodiversity and climate change, counting as Salinera as the main partner Spanish.
Thus, it has indicated that actions are being carried out to ensure the continuity of species that only have reproductive colonies in the salt mines of San Pedro del Pinatar, the recovery of Salineras, measures and formulas to avoid the process of erosion of the dunes, and the changes caused in beaches, mainly in La Llana, as well as obtaining a seal of quality for the salt produced in the town, to ensure that it has been produced with the utmost respect for the environment.
Another of the points of the day has been the municipal budget for 2020. Thus, the Councilor for Finance, José Fernández, has given account of the general criteria that make up the municipal budget, which for this year intends not to raise the tax pressure of Pinatarenses , develop tourism and environmental protection infrastructures, support sectors such as commerce, tourism and the fishing sector, affected by the situation of the Mar Menor, in addition to promoting labor conciliation policies.
Finally, the Councilor for Equality, Fuensanta García, explained that the II Equality Plan will be launched in the Municipality, which aims to be participatory, inclusive and equal since its inception, with large awareness campaigns among the most young people to prevent discriminatory behaviors and obtain real equality.
The participation of all the members of the council, with their questions and observations, which has been very wide, has shown that the topics discussed are of interest to all sectors and that there is a great sensitivity to themselves from all of Pinatarense society.
Today's session also unanimously elected the Vice President of the Council, Hilario Tárraga Gómez, on behalf of the Local Board of the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
