The Plenary Session of the City Council has unanimously approved a motion, proposed by Citizens and PP, to demand that the necessary actions and infrastructure to ensure the safety of the residents of the region and the conservation of the Mar Menor be executed.
The City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar has approved today, with the votes in favor of the four parties with representation in the plenary (PP, Citizens, PSOE and Vox), a motion to demand that the Government of Spain take the necessary actions to protect of the floods to the Mar Menor and the inhabitants of this region, which have recently been hit by continuous episodes of torrential rains.
Thus, the Central Executive is urged to allocate a budget item, with sufficient economic endowment, in the next General State Budgets to execute the Zero Discharge Project to the Mar Menor, as well as the construction of all the necessary infrastructures that prevent flooding in the riverside municipalities.
In addition, the creation of the figure of the High Commissioner for the Mar Menor is requested, to be occupied by a person with scientific endorsement and accredited professional solvency.
European bodies are also urged to raise funds to implement actions and investments necessary to protect the Mar Menor, as a flood zone and especially vulnerable to climate change.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
At another point on the agenda, the joint motion presented by PP, PSOE and Cs was approved, with the vote against Vox, on the occasion of International Women's Day in which different actions are exposed to claim real equality and effective gender.
Thus, the City Council adheres to the declaration of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, adding to the voices that cry out for a future without discrimination based on gender and recognizing the measures of the Beijing Platform for Action as a strategic axis of work.
The City Council emphasizes the importance of promoting training and social awareness actions from the local administration, promoting entrepreneurship and preventing violence;
In short, measures that contribute to living together, progress and sustainable social and economic development.
