The Department of Commerce has started the creation of a completely free 'Marketplace' for local businesses, where they can put their products on sale, in addition to subsidizing digitization plans for the creation and positioning of online stores. The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the councilor for Commerce, Javier Castejón, today presented the new initiatives launched by the City Council to facilitate access to electronic sales of local commerce, as well as support actions at the same time adopted during the health crisis caused by the coronavirus. Thus, Visitación Martínez has indicated that the objective of these measures is to promote and support small local businesses, favoring their access to online sales and creating a large virtual market for Pinar del Río establishments that allow them to expand their potential customers. In this regard, the councilor for Commerce has explained the initiatives launched by the council to facilitate access to electronic sales of small businesses, which have an initial budget of 20,000 euros. The first of these measures consists in the creation and start-up of an online buying and selling platform, which is offered completely free of charge to Pinar del Río businesses and which will allow them to put their products for sale in two easy ways.
, home delivery or store pickup. The Councilor for Commerce has explained that this platform will be linked to the 'Compras San Pedro' website and that the only requirement for being part of it is to register as an establishment previously on this portal. The different establishments will receive a simple tutorial on how to include their products on the platform, in addition to the graphic resources necessary to complete the entire process. The second of the commerce-driven initiatives is a digitization plan for small businesses.
Thus, the local online advertising and marketing company, Publianagrama, will create or update, where appropriate, the online store of each interested establishment, in addition to improving its positioning and promotion on the internet for a year, and the city council will subsidize 60% of the total cost of this service. The objective is that for a small annual amount, Pinar del Río establishments have the option of creating and positioning their own online store, expanding their market sector. The mayor has highlighted the importance of the commercial sector for the local economy and recalled that the City Council has recently approved tax credits aimed at small local businesses and all those economic activities that have had to suspend their activity as a result of the Alarm State, aware of the hard situation they face. Thus, for this sector, bonuses are established for a quarterly period for taxes on water supply and sewerage, and garbage collection.
The IBI and IAE fees for properties intended for economic activities will also be discounted proportionally to the time of the suspension of the activity.
Maintenance of at least 75% of the average workforce during 2020 will be conditioned. In addition, among other measures, during the State of Alarm, different initiatives have been launched to support and promote local commerce, such as the creation and dissemination of a list of businesses that made home deliveries for the elderly or dependents, a commercial guide list of establishments open to the public by activity sectors, the greatest promotion on social networks of local businesses and the creation of a Trade Commission, to jointly assess their suggestions.
