The Plenary of the City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar has unanimously approved a motion to ask the Central Executive for measures aimed at fighting the crisis caused by the coronavirus that especially affects the municipal sphere.
Likewise, a joint motion has been approved to ask the Commonwealth of Canals of Taibilla for a discount on the price of water. The San Pedro del Pinatar City Council held today the telematic plenary session in May, in which a motion by the Popular and Vox groups was unanimously approved, to request the Government of Spain to adopt measures to fight the crisis disease caused by the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic.Among other actions, the City Council requests the Central Government to allow the municipalities to dispose of the 20919 surplus without limitations, making the spending and stability rule more flexible; approve extraordinary bonuses in the IBI and IAE, exempt from VAT the invoices that are produced for actions related to measures to face the COVID crisis19.It is also requested, among other measures, to exempt the City Council from the payment of the royalty for occupation of public domain for the financial year 2020, to help the hospitality and fair sectors, or that the councils are an effective part of the state programs for Entities Premises for economic and social recovery, to counter the decline in tourism and commerce, as key sectors in generating employment in the locality. On the other hand, a joint motion of all municipal groups (PP, PSOE, Cs and Vox) has been approved to request the Commonwealth of Canales del Taibilla to reduce the price of water, which has included the request for the bonus from the sanitation fee to ESAMUR.Thus, the motion states that the supply of drinking water in San Pedro del Pinatar depends on the Commonwealth of Canales del Taibilla, an organ of the Ministry for Ecological Transition, which establishes a price of € 0.695 / m3 for the water it supplies to the City Council, through the FCC-Aqualia concessionaire, which in 2019 translated into 1.65 million euros and a consumption of 2,372,912 cubic meters.Regarding water purification, it is carried out through the Regional Entity of Sanitation and Wastewater Treatment (ESAMUR), attached to the Ministry of Water, applying a rate in relation to the consumption registered by each subscriber. For this reason, and given the seriousness of the current situation, the City Council requires both entities to reconsider the application of discounts on their rates during the time that the State of Alarm is in force, so that the families of Pinar del Río can benefit from a reduction in the water bill.
