The Department of Culture collaborates with this project of the cultural associations Amigos de los Museos and Ikomar, which aims to launch a common Genealogical Network among neighboring municipalities, through the study of records, documents, letters and photographs of the last centuries. The Friends of the Museums association from Pinar del Río and the Ikomar Cultural Association, from Pilar de la Horadada, have launched the creation of a Genealogical Network that will unite the history of hundreds of families from both populations, through the study of different documents that give Account of the common past of these neighboring localities. The project will be carried out through the study and sharing of data obtained in parish registers, the only institution that registered baptisms, weddings and deaths until the creation of the civil registry in the 19th century, as well as other subsequent documents from different public entities, in addition to other personal documents such as photographs, employment cards or correspondence. The Councilor for Culture of San Pedro del Pinatar, Mari Carmen Guirao, has praised this cultural initiative that will contribute to enrich the historical account of the municipality and has made available the ethnographic and documentary funds of the council. The presidents of Friends of the Museums, Marcos David Gracia, and of the Ikomar Association, Dario Quesada, have stressed that "this action aims to unite through genealogy two populations historically linked by hundreds of marriages and personal relationships." In addition, they have advanced that this will be one of the many initiatives that both cultural groups will develop in common.
