| In the last four years, 87 courses have been carried out, with an investment in training of 1.9 million euros | More than 1,300 people at risk of social exclusion have taken courses from the Regional Employment and Training Service (SEF) in the last four years at the Fundación Tienda Asilo San Pedro.
The Minister of Employment, Research and Universities, Miguel Motas, today visited the facilities located in Cartagena and highlighted that "the Ministry maintains several lines of collaboration with the Asilo San Pedro Store that include actions aimed at promoting the personal development and labor insertion of people at risk of exclusion in general, and residents of the Lo Campano neighborhood in particular.
The SEF offers courses aimed, for the most part, at people who lack studies or have little training in order to improve their chances of finding employment. In the latest calls, from 2016 to 2020, the Tienda Asilo Foundation has carried out 87 SEF courses, with an investment in training of 1.9 million euros. The courses have a wide range of professional specialties, such as welding, socio-cultural and community services, health and administrative management.
The professional family with the most students is that of complementary training (600 students), followed by socio-cultural services and the community (330 students). The complementary training allows students without ESO or Baccalaureate to prepare for the key competences exams in mathematics, language and English that the SEF calls for access to the courses that these degrees require.
Specifically, to access the courses leading to level 2 certificates of professionalism it is necessary to have at least an ESO degree, while level 3 requires at least a Baccalaureate. In addition, the SEF's collaboration with Tienda Asilo has allowed a guidance professional to have attended a total of 68 people to guide them in their job placement. The Tienda Asilo Foundation has a center located in the Cartagena neighborhood of Santa Lucía, with classrooms for 20 students.
In addition, it has a carpentry workshop, a welding workshop and a flame cutting workshop.
