The City of San Pedro del Pinatar today commemorated International Women's Day with the reading of the official manifesto, by the mayor, and the inauguration of the photo exhibition "With M Women".
The hall of the Municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar has welcomed today the act of the International Women's Day, in which the mayor intervened, Visitation Martinez and Councilwoman Equality Guadalupe Garcia.
The mayor read out the official manifesto, focusing on the vindictive nature of the commemoration of this day, thanks to the growing share of women acting globally, have joined their efforts and strength in the fight against discrimination, contributing aa well extend human rights of women worldwide.
It has also highlighted the goals that remain to be achieved and the need to "encourage and take measures to ensure, on the one hand, equal pay allowing end the wage gap and on the other, actions from the public and private sectors to enable the reconciliation of work, personal and family life of women ".
For its part, the Councillor for Equality, Guadalupe Garcia, highlighted the work done at the local level.
"We continue to make efforts to raise awareness, promote and take action with the sole aim to value and recognize the role of women in our town and in society," he said.
During the ceremony they have also been awarded the prizes to the winners of the fifth edition of photography contest "Con M de mujer" and has opened the exhibition with all the images presented to it.
The first prize of 200 euros, went to Francisco Javier Ruiz Ramon, with photography "A road together", which has become the poster image of the events planned on the occasion of March 8.
The photograph "the fisherwoman of dreams" by Antonio Ruiz Guerrero, won the second prize of one night hotel and spa circuit in a local hotel.
The activities marking the International Women's Day will continue on Thursday March 10 with the broadcast of the program "Make your voice heard" in which students of secondary schools of the town counted on Radio Pinatar which represents for them equality .
On Friday 11th takes place the cultural excursion to the Cathedral of Murcia and finally, the book club "Salicornia" analyze the play "I have left to live" Elvira Lindo.
