Murcia has nearly 200 hectares where ornamental plants and cut flowers are grown mainly carnation and pink, which account for over 50 percent of regional production.
This sector generates revenues exceeding 65 billion euros annually, of which more than 10 million comes from exports.
This was explained CEO of Productions and Agricultural Markets, Fulgencio Perez, accompanied by Ramon Luis García, Councillor for Enterprise, Trade and Industry of San Pedro del Pinatar, yesterday visited the pinatarense cooperative La Pacheca-sPalm, recognized by the Ministry of water, Agriculture and Environment as Association of producers of live plants and floricultural products (APAS), which brings together seven partners producers.
The cooperative has a cultivated area (on mesh and outdoor) 20 hectares, sold 1,500,000 plants and a turnover of more than seven million euros.
In addition, 50 percent of the production is exported to Germany, France, Holland, Belgium and the UK.
Fulgencio Perez explained that "today there is a system of national aid to support the establishment and operation of APAS improving distribution and marketing, and is compatible with Community law".
In this regard, in the region there are three recognized producer groups.
