The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, inaugurated this morning the IX Conference of Citizen Participation, "Open Government, Transparency and Public Participation in Local Government".
The mayor reviewed the long history of the municipality in such meetings and discussion forums, deepening and improving the quality of democracy, with citizens, and providing municipal technicians frameworks on which to base the strategic decisions on issues participation and transparency.
Along with Visitación, Manuel Pleguezuelo, Director General of Citizen Participation, he addressed the "Citizen Participation, the model of Open Government in the Region of Murcia" which explained the three pillars to discuss Open Government, based on transparency, participation and Collaboration.
Subsequently, the Chief of Citizen Participation of Aragon, Sergio Castel, addressed the "strategies for promoting transparency and citizen participation at the local level," enumerating the methodology used for this purpose.
In the second part of the session, the more locally focused, Joaquín Palací, Crea360 consultant, showed the development of the Strategy DUSI San Pedro del Pinatar as an example of participatory workshop.
Finally, Eva Gonzalez, Citizen Participation technician pinatarense council, spoke about the importance of local government as a strategic space for good practice.
In conclusion, the IX Conference, the mayor of the town accompanied by the Councillor for Citizen Participation and Transparency, acknowledged the work of associations that have excelled in social projects, Caritas, Mar Menor North Red Cross and Love for Love and Other Associations have highlighted by social and health projects AIDEMAR, AFEM, AMMA and AECC.
