CIVEX which oversees issues Citizenship, Immigration, Governance and Institutional Affairs, under the Committee of the Regions (CoR), a consultative body of the European Union created by the Maastricht Treaty, met on May 4 to know the top three topics related to their projects.
Among the selected projects is the "Bank of Pinatarense Wisdom. An Intergenerational experience Citizen Participation", which was presented to the members of the CIVEX by Eva González Bueno, technical citizen participation of the City of San Pedro del Pinatar who was accompanied by the Mayor, Visitation Martinez and the Executive Councillor for Citizen Participation, Fuensanta Garcia.
This project relies on the decision of the Council and the European Parliament to designate 2012 as the European Year of active aging and intergenerational solidarity, seeks to recover our identity with intergenerational vocation, betting on the involvement of older people in the Social Council City, municipal civic participation organ of greater importance to social and economic level.
The Bank of Pinatarense Wisdom, has been lauded by the representatives of Finland, Lithuania, Romania, Italy and Slovenia.
It is a good exportable to other parts of the EU practice to generate the active participation of older people, resulting in greater democratic quality and the Open Government.
