The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, together with the Councillor for Sports, Daniel Perez, met today to pinatarense paddler Fran Luengo, who closed the season with an outstanding participation in international championships as a member of the Spanish team, being the Olympic alternate the two currently competing in Rio de Janeiro.
Thus, after the second place in C1 200 of the second national selective male senior, and first place in category under 23 and get a fourth place in the Cup of Spain of speed in the same distance;
Luengo disputed the senior world cup, where he earned the eighth fastest time in competition, while in the senior European Championship, held in Moscow, occupied the seventh place in the semifinal.
In the Under 23 World Championship in Minsk, he signed the fifth fastest time of the competition, although the high level of the semi-final not allowed to opt to medal in the final round.
The mayor, who has given the athlete a T-shirt of the Department of Sports of San Pedro del Pinatar, has praised the effort of this pinatarense paddler aims to be part of the next Olympic canoeing team.
