Under the reign of Elizabeth II, on September 16, 1836 the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar is finally created, as documented by the volume of the Municipal Archives entitled "Record of Proceedings and town councils since the creation of nuebo constitutional Municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar ".
The first of the 64 mayors who have since led the town hall was Imbernón Jose Ruiz, elected by the headman, and the City was established in a building in the Plaza de la Iglesia.
But the story of the town of San Pedro del Pinatar many centuries before, a population center thanks to the sea and salt, something documented develops back in Roman times, and evolves into an important commercial enclave along the centuries.

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, recalled today the 64 mayors who over the years have worked for San Pedro del Pinatar was a town of regional and national reference.
Visitation Martinez said that "local government has grown meeting the demands and needs of our neighbors, key players in its development", so has urged all pinatarenses to "continue working for a united, worker and dynamic village ".
