The Family Program of the Department of Social Welfare has developed since 2008 this workshop aimed at students aged 14 to 16 years of local institutes, in order to prevent violent behavior among the young.
The Department of Social Welfare, through the Family program, teaches in November and December a workshop on prevention of ill-treatment aimed at students of second cycle of ESO in the institutes of the town.
This activity, which has begun this week with students from third year of ESO of IES Dos Mares, is aimed at young people between 14 and 16 years old, age in which normally begin the relationships of couple, with the purpose of preventing and diminishing behaviors of mistreatment Through direct intervention with adolescents.
The workshop, given by the social educator Mª Ángeles Rosique, deals directly with young people with questions such as why abuse occurs, what gender violence is, how to detect a situation of abuse and how to act before it.
An activity open to the participation of young people, in which they are invited to express their opinions and doubts.
The main objectives of the workshop are to raise awareness about the importance of education in equality, to promote the construction of a non-sexist individual identity, and to promote the acquisition of skills to deal with situations of abuse.
This formative and preventive action, which has been carried out for the last eight years, is complemented by the network work carried out by Social Services with other institutions involved in the prevention and treatment of gender violence, such as courts, health centers, Civil Guard , etc.
