Framed in the VI days of Archeology held in the Barón de Benifayó Municipal Museum, the archeology hall hosted an interesting conference on the inventor of the submarine, Isaac Peral.
The conference "Isaac Peral, a universal sailor", was run by Ensign and diver, Diego Quevedo, who traveled the life of the illustrious Spanish marine and military scientist from his birth in Cartagena in 1851 until his death in Berlin in 1895.
Leaning on numerous photographs and documents of the time Quevedo made a pleasant review, without sparing in detail, the most important moments lived by the Lieutenant of Peral in his intense yet short life.
Among the numerous public were military, researchers, and neighbors who enjoyed the explanations of Diego Quevedo, as well as, the Councilor of Culture Silvia Egea, who called Quevedo as one of the people who know the most about Isaac Peral in the World.
After the conference, the exhibition "Isaac Peral, an Underwater World" was inaugurated, where you can find numerous objects, photographs and documents related to Peral preserved throughout history, as well as a scale replica of his "son of Iron "made by Juan Ignacio Chacón and that arrives from the Naval Museum of Cartagena where it was located next to the original submarine.
The exhibition will remain in the temporary exhibition hall of the Barón de Benifayó Municipal Museum until the end of next February.
