The Villa Marina of San Pedro del Pinatar will have a clean point in its facilities, where the professionals of the fish farms will be able to deposit the fish residues generated by the activity of the aquaculture and that need a specific treatment as rest of organic products.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Pedro Rivera, announced today that his department has just authorized the installation of the same in San Pedro "to make a correct management of waste, taking into account the particularities of the product, and keep the port in perfect condition Cleaning and hygiene ".
After holding a meeting with the president of the Federation of Aquaculture Companies of the Region of Murcia (FARM), Juan Manuel Aguirre, Pedro Rivera said that this new facility "provides the best means to fishermen and fish farmers, who are With the problem of not having a space in which to deposit the casualties of fish ".
The adviser said that this new facility "will allow to concentrate in a single point all solid fish remains," such as skin or viscera containing the highest concentrations of contaminants and toxins.
Specifically, a refrigerated warehouse will be built to ensure the storage of fish waste with optimum storage conditions, which prevent the escape of liquids and odors, so that later they can be removed and processed by authorized companies.
In addition, it will be equipped with a system of cleaning of tanks and with slopes that facilitate the evacuation of the wastes.

"The aquaculture sector has a lot of relevance in our regional economy, generating close to 400 direct jobs and invoicing up to 200 million euros per year," said the Minister of Development, adding that the sector has "a high activity And it needs new infrastructures in the ports so that they can carry out their activity in optimal conditions ".
The regional official stressed that "the regional government supports aquaculture with new facilities to make better use of resources and continue betting on innovation and development of the sector."
