The coastal municipality will be present at the thirty-seventh edition of the International Tourism Fair of Madrid, held from 18 to 22 January.
The 125th anniversary of the Pilgrimage of the Virgin of Carmen and a new tourism product framed in the campaign "Paraiso Salado", are the bets of San Pedro del Pinatar for the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in this edition.
The City Council will show in this important tourist showcase internationally the 125th anniversary of the Romería de la Virgen del Carmen, a festival that every July 16 from 1892 congregates thousands of faithful in the town, which accompany the image of "The Star of the Mares "by land and sea in a day full of emotion and fervor.
The fishermen, through the cofradía, and the women of the Association of the Virgin of the Carmen, next to the City council, like main pillars of this celebration work of joint way in a wide programming to mark the 125 anniversary of the Romería, as well as In promoting its declaration as a Fiesta of National Tourist Interest.
On the other hand, San Pedro del Pinatar will continue promoting its "Salt Paradise", a tourist campaign launched last year in which it shows the beauty of the landscapes of the Regional Park of Salinas and Arenales, the importance of the salt industry in the locality, The benefits of the outdoor mudflat area, the miles of beaches to the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor or the rich and varied local gastronomy, all under the common denominator of salt.
This year, the campaign is extended with a new tourist experience, San Pedro del Pinatar proposes to the visitor to approach the sea and the gastronomy in a different way, embarking next to local fishermen, fishing with them in waters of the Mar Menor and later to taste the rich Native fish in the high quality restaurants that the town has.
An experience in which fishing, a sector of great tradition in the locality, becomes a differentiating tourist element, together with the rich and diverse local gastronomy.
The Mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, together with the Councilor for Tourism, Silvia Egea, will present the tourist offer of the town during the opening day, Wednesday, January 18, starting at 12:45 pm in the stand Of the Region of Murcia.
The event will conclude with a gastronomic demonstration by the Murcian chef Pablo González-Conejero, standard of the new kitchen Murcia that counts, among other honors with a Michelin star.
