The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, explained that the basic rehabilitation project has been drafted and cultural and environmental protection reports have been requested from various autonomous agencies.

The Mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, explained that since her inauguration she has sought formulas for the rehabilitation of the Floridablanca Spa, in coordination with the regional and state administrations, a complex process, given its location within the Mar Menor, and after being closed in 2009 for being affected by the Coastal Law.

Visación Martínez recalled that in 2009 a grant was granted by the Autonomous Community for the rehabilitation of the building, which was not allocated in time and form to its mission, so it had to be returned.

Subsequently, various formulas were studied to make the function of the building compatible, with a part dedicated to a museum, another part to a spa and another restoration area;

Being the firm commitment of the mayor to protect this emblem of the locality, cataloged by its cultural relevance.

The municipal and autonomous budgets of 2017 have two assigned economic items, in the amount of 200,000 and 405,000 euros respectively, for the drafting of the project and the start of rehabilitation works for the Floridablanca spa.

In this sense, he explained that the basic project has already been awarded and drafted and has been sent to the competent bodies to issue environmental reports and cultural protection, as it is a cultural property, located in the Mar Menor, Being able to make the small corrections that are necessary in the mentioned project.

For this reason, the City expects rehabilitation works to begin before the end of the year, although it is difficult to commit deadlines, since the process does not depend only on the local administration.

Visación Martínez has concluded that the process is totally transparent and open, since he has noticed in many occasions of the administrative procedures in which the mentioned project is found.
