The Department of Sports continues this year with the expansion and improvement of the municipal sports center, with a new skating rink and remodeling of the outer dressing rooms.

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the Councilor for Sports, Daniel Pérez, visited yesterday the new skating rink that has been built in the central area of ​​the municipal sports center, as well as the outer changing rooms, which have been renovated.

The new skating rink occupies an area of ​​400 square meters, next to the children's play area, in a space previously to pass.

The track, which has a budget of 10,000 euros, has been provided with perimeter protection, LED lighting, as well as banks and transition areas so children can put on the equipment.

The mayor explained that this area will host the municipal schools of baby roller and skating, and will be freely accessible outside the training hours of the same.

In addition, in this central area, existing wardrobes have been completely reformed, and a new wardrobe for referees and two storage areas for clubs and the Department of Sports, equipped with cages and different spaces for storing sports equipment, have been installed.

The exterior area has also been renovated with a mural painting by the illustrator Goyo 203, with references to the values ​​of the sport and to enclaves of the municipality.

The Department of Sports will continue with the expansion and modernization of sports facilities this year with the adaptation of a circuit of 500 meters of mountain bike, complementary to the cross circuit, which will have unevenness and obstacles.

In addition, an outdoor sports court will be built to respond to the increasing demand of users of this center.

The mayor recalled that these actions are in addition to those carried out in recent years in the expansion and modernization of sports facilities, which have included, among others, the creation of the cross circuit, the construction of a beach volleyball court, Two 3x3 basketball courts, the minipinatarius training area, the remodeling of the tennis court, the adaptation of more accessible counseling, or the creation of a new club space in the pavilion.
