Citizens will present an initiative in the Congress of Deputies to redefine the model of tourist town.
José Luis Martínez, national deputy of Citizens, has made this proposal known at an event held in the center of tourist initiatives of San Pedro del Pinatar in an event that also participated the regional spokesman for the orange formation, Miguel Sánchez, And the spokesman of Cs in this municipality, José Luis Ros.
Martínez said that the objective of this proposal "is to make the conditions more flexible so that a greater number of municipalities can access this category to maintain the levels of competitiveness that allow Spain to be one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world."
Martinez has pointed out that currently only nine municipalities across Spain, including San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar, can access this category, "something that is incomprehensible since this year have received some 77 million tourists that generate income To the State for a value of 77,000 million euros. "
In this sense, the deputy of the formation has manifested the importance that would have for several murcian municipalities like Eagles, Los Alcazares, Mazarrón or some of the interior the cataloging of tourist municipality "and that, therefore, they can receive a subsidy of the State, that Would be fundamental for the maintenance of the services, equipment and infrastructures ".
According to the Law of Local Haciendas are considered tourist municipalities those who have a population of right more than 20,000 inhabitants and in which the second residences are superior to the habitual residences.
"It would be very important for an eminently tourist region like Murcia that the citizens' initiative would go ahead because it would allow us to offer the visitor a higher quality tourism", finished Martínez.
