The City of San Pedro del Pinatar is a pioneer in Transparency and Citizen Participation, with the development of different processes and projects in which citizens have a central role.
The City Social Council is a municipal body that is currently one of the main channels for citizen participation in San Pedro del Pinatar since its creation in 2008 and which discusses topics of particular relevance in the locality, such as budgets, Investments, projects, urban development, etc.
To date, it is necessary to update this body, as there are some groups that have been discharged or do not currently have representation in the municipality.
For this and to ensure the continuity of its smooth operation, it will be the Social Council itself that determines how to fill these vacancies.
Regarding the proposal of citizens to expand this body, the mayor has said that "it would mean that it was composed of almost 40 members, which would make it much less operational."
Therefore, the amendment, proposed by the Popular group and approved in full, advocates updating the Council, with the same number of representatives, and creating sectoral councils in different areas on the proposal of the local associative fabric.
In addition, the mayor has reiterated "the commitment to citizens and their involvement in public life through measures that result in policies and real projects" and criticized that "the Council of Citizens want to give lessons for the gallery, When their participation is practically null in the different plans, processes and organisms in which it has been included ".
Among other initiatives, only in the last year have been developed several participatory deliberative workshops for the DUSI strategy, the municipal Emergency, Sports, Equality and family plans have been drafted, counting on the considerations of associations and groups involved.
Participatory processes have also been developed in the drafting of the beach ordinance, the hotel regulations of associations, which will be implemented imminently to accommodate local groups, or the most recent to determine the model of accessibility and modernization of the center urban.
Likewise, the City Council adheres to the Code of Good Government of the FEMP, and the transparency portal contains the data specified in Law 19/2013, of December 9, on transparency, access to public information and good governance.
