During the first half of the legislature, the municipality has developed a leading transparency portal at the regional level, reinforced citizens' participatory processes and expanded collaboration with associations and social interest groups.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, today offered a press conference to give an account of the management balance of her government team after two years of the legislature.
Among other points, Visación Martínez emphasized that transparency, access to public information and the rules of good governance, are fundamental axes of its political action, through a firm commitment to work with the citizens.
For this reason, the Council of Transparency was created in this legislature, launching the Transparency Portal and complying with the requirements and scales of the Transparency International organization.
This effort was rewarded with the Infoparticipa seal, which certifies the quality and transparency of local public communication.
A badge that received only four municipalities in the Region and awarded the Laboratory of Journalism and Communication for Plural Citizenship of the Autonomous University of Barcelona in collaboration with the University of Murcia.
Among other actions in the area of ​​good governance, several participatory processes have been carried out, such as the workshops of the European EDUSI project, which involved more than 230 people from different fields, the citizen survey carried out for the modernization and accessibility of the urban center, Which involved more than 1,500 citizens, or processes such as the Family Plan, the Beach Ordinance or the Regulation of the Hotel of Associations, which have received the contributions of associations and groups involved through consultative processes.
With the aim of strengthening the active local associative fabric, the Hotel de Asociaciones will be launched soon in the Casa de la Juventud, recently renovated, a space where they can share projects, carry out activities and make their work known to the rest of the municipality.
In addition, the Local Volunteer Plan continues to be promoted, with 200 volunteers since its creation, who are increasingly involved in cultural, sports, education and social activities.
Another of the fundamental tools to be close to the citizen in today's society are digital media, which is why the municipal website has been reinforced, which has had 244,262 visits in the last year, profiles of the City Council, and areas such as Police, Protection Civil, Celebrations, Tourism, Education, Culture or Youth, surpass the 22,870 fans in facebook and 4,744 followers in twiter.
In addition, in 2016 was made available to the citizens a municipal APP that already has 1,175 downloads.
In terms of social promotion, it is worth mentioning the support that the council grants to social and sporting groups, and cultural bodies.
Thus, in the Municipal budget for 2017, collects 904,445 euros for these groups.
Of particular note are sports grants open to more groups, the extension of the solidarity basket, with 30,000 euros, subsidies to socio-health associations, with a budget this year of 20,000 euros, or study grants, which have 35,000 Euros and the bank of books endowed with 5,000 euros plus the surplus of the rest of aids and the Popular University.
The Government Team is also committed to the priority needs of Pinatarans with disabilities and dependence. In addition, it works to eliminate architectural barriers and accessibility of public spaces, in collaboration with the Federation of Associations of Persons with Physical Disability in Murcia Organic, (FAMDIF / COCEMFE).
To this are added the 132 places agreed for the care of people with disabilities through the associations AFEMAR and AIDEMAR, the 194 places in residences the residences of seniors Messengers of Peace and Villademar, and the agreement signed with the Counseling of Well-being Social for the provision of home help, with 127,000 euros per year and will benefit more than 60 users.

A plot for the future construction of a residential center with 65 places has also been assigned to AIDEMAR.
This effort to make San Pedro del Pinatar a participative and close municipality is also reflected in the promotion of Family, Youth or Equality plans, as well as in the extensive programs of training, leisure and leisure activities that develop from diverse councils as a woman , Celebrations, youth and culture.
In the area of ​​Citizen Security, we have also worked to bring services closer to citizens through the "Near You" campaign, with the presence in social networks, the creation of the secure mobile commerce application, which has been Adding almost all the businesses of the locality, or the creation of the Police Unit of Beaches, with more than 2,900 attentions in the beaches and promenades.
A work that is complemented by the Civil Protection actions, in which also highlights its group of 100 volunteers that reinforce the safety devices at events, work on beaches during the summer and information, prevention and care of Emergencies.
