The Blue Flags are a recognized environmental award awarded by the European Foundation for Environmental Education to municipalities that make a special effort to manage their beaches and inland waters in a way that respects the environment and nature.
Of all the parameters that are valued, the Mar Menor beaches offer the highest quality in parameters such as accessibility, rescue and rescue, cleaning and waste management and hygiene-sanitary risk control.
However, because the measurements of the quality parameters are made almost one year before the granting of the award, it may be the case that whether or not to grant a flag does not reflect the real and current quality of a beach .
It is for this reason, and in order to protect our tourism and all that depends on it, that from the Popular Party of San Pedro del Pinatar a motion has been filed before the Municipal Plenary to request that the measurements be made close to the date of Delivery of the award and that the delivery of the flags reflects the current state of our beaches.
