This group, focused on the study and conservation of the Mar Menor and especially the seahorse, as an emblematic species of the same, toured this weekend the projects, achievements and collaborations developed since its birth in 2007.
The House of Culture of San Pedro del Pinatar hosted on Saturday, July 24 the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the association Hippocampus, in which a review of its history in the study and conservation of the Mar Menor and the seahorse .
The Councilors of Citizen Participation, Fuensanta García, and the Environment, Javier Sánchez, were in charge of opening the day and welcoming this meeting, which continued with the intervention of the Director General of the Mar Menor of the Region, Antonio Luengo.
Later Julio Mais intervened, researcher of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography, that made a historical revision of the studies realized in the lagoon of the Mar Menor on the seahorse.
The president of the Association, Cristina Mena, compiled the trajectory of this group in the paper "A decade of Hippocampus: achievements and struggles" and the secretary of the association, Juan Diego Lopez said "Present and future of Hippocampus" .
Responsible for closing the day was Teresa Allepuz, head of Europe Direct Region of Murcia, with the presentation of a selection of photographs of the association to commemorate this anniversary.
