Organized by the General Directorate of Youth of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, in collaboration with Caixa Bank and the City of San Pedro del Pinatar.
With the denomination of "Pure Mediterranean", is carried out this first half of July a Field of Work in San Pedro of the Pinatar.
Eighteen volunteers and volunteers from ten cities and autonomous communities, aged between 18 and 30 years, are carrying out work and activities around the Salinas of San Pedro del Pinatar, all in keeping with the environmental character of the Park.
The tasks are being carried out both in the Park, and in the port, or the town of San Pedro, oriented to environmental awareness and promotion of ecotourism, and as an addition, social and cultural activities.
Participants will be taught about traditional fishing and sailing craft, the Vela Latina, which are totally environmentally friendly.
They will tour all corners of the park by bike and walking, helping in the Park with all the activities they carry out: environmental education, definition of user profile of the park, cleaning of park and beaches, good signposts of trails, bird watching , Record of wildlife abuses, impact of the man both in the park and in the sea.
They will be taught basic concepts of oceanography and navigation of Latin Sailing, and will practice this ancient art and, above all, will work as a team, indispensable in this type of navigation.
The technical work will consist of the extraction of exotic plants, registering the species run over, cleaning the paths, cleaning beaches, surveys of the use of the park, replanting, adaptation of the improvement for the fauna, sampling, data collection, environmental education tasks , Promote ecotourism, provide socio-cultural service to the people and tourists.
In addition to the volunteer work that takes place from Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., this work camp has cultural activities, leisure and free time.
The Director General of Youth, Francisco Sánchez, who has visited the youth along with the Councilor of Festivities, Youth, Fairs and Markets of the City of San Pedro, Javier Castejón Martínez thanked the participants for their involvement and work done for the benefit of the environment and Our region, as well as the work of spreading the heritage and cultural wealth of San Pedro that will do when they return to their place of origin.
This field of work is being carried out thanks to the collaboration that Caixa Bank has been providing around the promotion of the European Youth Card in collaboration with the Directorate General for Youth.
Fields of Work is a program of youth volunteering that takes place in all the Cities and Autonomous Communities of Spain thanks to the collaboration of the Youth Organizations of each one of them.
The content and the development of this field of work have been elaborated and finally carried out by technicians and volunteers of the Asociación Viento Norte Sur
The stay of the participants has been located in the Space of Leisure, Leisure and Emerging Arts of San Pedro del Pinatar.
