Referring to the statements made by the PSOE in this morning's press conference on Health Area VIII, from the Popular Party we regret that once again, Socialist Groups of the municipalities of Mar Menorenses, try to foment catastrophism and generate alarmism With half truths and uncertain data.
It is true that there are increases in attention both in winter periods (due to the rebound of chronic pathologies) and in the summer (due to the increase in population), and precisely because of this, a reinforcement in the Emergency Services is carried out.
The Los Arcos University Hospital of the Mar Menor was built considering an incremental population increase to 150,000 inhabitants (currently, it serves 104,000).
The fact that there are still parts of the hospital unopened is not due to mismanagement or planning, but to the contrary.
The mismanagement would have been to carry out the work only for the demand of 2005 (year in which the functional memory was made) without any growth forecast.
Neither are the figures offered by the PSOE on average waiting periods (which are much lower) or those of staff budget, which far from decreasing a 7.13% from 2016 to 2017 as they say, have actually experienced an increase Of 3.8%.
In recent years, there have also been improvements in services such as oncology, where more and more chemotherapy treatments are performed;
Personnel have been incorporated into the Service of Pathological Anatomy;
The preparation and conditioning of the Mental Health Center has been completed;
There has been a reinforcement of both doctor and nurse of the SUAP in San Pedro del Pinatar, which adds to the reinforcement that is done since February.
In addition, there is a public transport line that connects the municipality to the Hospital, so there is no room for the claim made on the lack of this service.
This press conference comes at the most inopportune moment, since today, CARM has announced that the SMS Health Service Summer Plan foresees the hiring of 4,845 professionals, 514 more than last summer and an increase of one hundred Beds.
From the Popular Party we believe that in a subject as transcendent as health, the Socialist Party should show much more rigor in its data.
