The Autonomous Community and the City of San Pedro del Pinatar will renew the lighting of more than 80 streets of the municipality to improve energy efficiency and reduce light pollution.
The action has an investment of 353,000 euros, of which 324,771 will be contributed by the Community, through the Regional Plan of Works and Municipal Services (POS) of 2016 and 2017, managed by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration.
The Director of Local Administration, Manuel Durán, visited this morning the streets where the works will be carried out next to the mayor of the town, Visitación Martínez.
The improvement works will be carried out in two phases, which corresponds to the Plan of Works of last year, which includes renovation in about thirty streets, and those of the POS 2017, which includes 50 streets.
The works consist of replacing old luminaires to optimize efficiency and energy savings and improve street lighting, as well as limit night light glow or light pollution, and reduce intrusive or annoying light.
To do this, the old luminaires will be changed by LED technology lighting, much more efficient and energy-saving.
The Work Plan for 2016 provides for the renovation of lighting in some thirty streets, located in the surroundings of Agustín Escribano and Galicia streets.
These are vials with an old, inefficient installation that consumes too much electrical energy.
These works are pending adjudication.
The investment in these projects is 166,314 euros, of which 147,695 euros are contributed by the Autonomous Community and the rest by the City.
The POS of 2017 continues with the renovation of public lighting in 50 more streets around the Lorquí, Aledo and Almería streets.
This project, which will soon be put out to tender, will involve an investment of 186,396 euros, of which 177,076 euros correspond to the Autonomous Community.
