The City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar has transferred for a period of 10 years this building to the Association of Relatives and People with Mental Illness and TGD del Mar Menor that offers comprehensive care to these patients in the region.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the president of the AFEMAR Association, Juana María Romero, today signed the act that formalizes the assignment of use of the Building of Multiple Uses to this association for a term of 10 years.
This building, located in the Calle Concejal Mariano Henarejos, has a constructed area of ​​876 square meters and 3,363 square meters of plot.
The plenary of the City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar approved in May unanimously the assignment of the use of this building to AFEMAR for the assistance of people with mental illness, as well as guidance and psychological help to families.
For its part, the association AFEMAR will carry out in the next months an investment of more than 110,000 euros for the adaptation and commissioning of the building, providing it with air conditioning, elevator and perimeter fencing.
The mayor has highlighted the work of this group at the county level, as it is an association that works on the development of different programs and activities aimed at the care, rehabilitation and social inclusion of people with mental illness.
Juana María Romero thanked the City of San Pedro del Pinatar for the assignment of this building for the development of its activities and explained that it will mainly be devoted to day care and child and youth care services.
The AFEMAR association currently serves more than 30 adults and about twenty children in the juvenile service, as well as the families of the same.
AFEMAR also develops occupational, leisure and leisure activities programs, awareness and prevention campaigns, family schools, individual therapies, etc.
After the signing in the City Hall, the mayor, along with the president of AFEMAR, the Councilor for Citizen Participation, Fuensanta García, workers and users have visited what will be the new facilities of this association.
