The neighbors of San Pedro del Pinatar may include proposals on which specific projects will be allocated 100,000 euros of their municipal budget for the next financial year.
The Town Council of San Pedro del Pinatar, through the councils of Citizen Participation and New Technologies, are coordinating the inclusion of participatory budgets for the new year.
The mayor, Visitation Martinez, explained that for this action will take into account the suggestions of citizens collected by the different councils and the Office of Citizen Attention in day to day, to which will be added the proposals of the local mayors for improvement and performance for different neighborhoods of the municipality.
These proposals will be collected in a first draft that will be submitted to the City Social Council, an organ of citizen participation, in which representatives of the citizens, together with political and municipal officials, will establish the final proposals that will finally be submitted to a public vote, in a process in which all neighbors who wish to participate can participate.
The proposals most voted by the Pinatarense neighborhood will be accompanied by feasibility reports and valuation criteria to be submitted to the Plenary, the competent body for the approval of the municipal budget.
With this measure opens a new channel of participation and involvement of its neighbors with ideas to jointly manage a portion of the investments for next year, said the mayor.
"Through this initiative, the Government Team ratifies its commitment to the citizens to find the right tools to work hand in hand with the neighbors, offering them increasing spaces of decision and creating real spaces of participation," he added.
In fact, in recent years San Pedro del Pinatar has been the first municipality to adhere to the "Regional Commitment for Citizen Participation" and has developed projects as participatory deliberative workshops for the DUSI strategy, the results of which were already applied in the budgets of 2017 as the basis of the investments to be made.
In addition, the municipal emergency plans, Sports, Equality and family, among others, have been drafted, counting on the considerations of associations and groups involved.
Participatory processes have also been developed in the drafting of the beach ordinance and the regulations of the hotel of associations or the one carried out to determine the model of accessibility and modernization of the urban center, in which more than 1,500 people participated.
"This trajectory in the impetus of participatory policies is what allows now to take a step further for the initiative of participatory budgets," he concluded.
