The national deputy Isabel Borrego, the regional deputy Mónica Merońo and the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martinez, announced this morning the initiatives presented for the promotion of the regeneration of La Llana Beach.
La Llana beach is being affected by a regression process, and in the last 60 years it has lost between 60 and 80 meters.
This progress of the sea, slow but constant, affects on three fronts: on the one hand at the tourist level, all users of the beach;
on the other, at an environmental level, since it affects the Regional Park of Salinas and Arenales of San Pedro del Pinatar and lastly in economic terms, since the Pinatarense salinera exploitation, of century-old tradition in the place, would be affected.
For these reasons, the Municipal Group of the Popular Party presented, on 17 August, a motion to the Plenary to promote the necessary actions to protect and regenerate the beach of La Llana, as a priority.
In the words of the mayor of San Pedro, "these are three emblems of our municipality, which we must protect and preserve and it is urgent to act."
The People's Parliamentary Group, in the same vein, presented a motion in the Regional Assembly: "we thus demonstrate the strength of a cohesive and representative party at all parliamentary levels," according to Monica Merońo.
The deputy Murcia has also criticized the attitude of opposition parties, which by blocking the assumption of coastal powers by the Autonomous Community, have succeeded in getting initiatives as necessary as this one to suffer serious complications and unnecessary delays.
Representing the Popular Parliamentary Group in the Congress of Deputies, Isabel Borrego has expressed the desire to support both the City Council and the Regional Government in this work, and has announced that a proposal was presented at the beginning of the month to promote in a priority and urgent way, the necessary actions to carry out the regeneration and protect "one of the best beaches in Spain".
With these proposals, the Popular Party deploys a common strategy for the protection of our coasts and our heritage defended at local, regional and national level.
The National deputies Francisco Bernabé and Ascensión Carreno, Senator Pedro Jose Pérez Ruiz and several councilors of the Town Hall of San Pedro del Pinatar have also moved to La Llana Beach.
