The City Council and the electricity company Iberdrola have signed an agreement whereby they undertake to protect users of gas and electricity services, contracted with the entity, in a vulnerable situation of this municipality.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the commercial manager of Iberdrola in the Region of Murcia, Itziar Pérez Lledó, have signed this agreement whose objective is to avoid the suspension of gas and electricity supply in those households with more difficulties economic conditions.
The measure will benefit those families who, after an evaluation by the Social Services, obtain social assistance for the payment of receipts.
The agreement will also make it possible to speed up the restoration of supply in cases where the suspension has already taken place, as well as the coordination mechanisms between the City Council and Iberdrola for the management and processing of individuals in relation to: changes in ownership in contracts, of the social bond, changes of type of contract and modifications of data.
Through this procedure, families in situations of vulnerability and with difficulties to pay certain bills, after an assessment by the Center for Social Services and Primary Care, will receive assistance to be able to cope with the settlement of the same and from the City Hall will inform the supplier company of the situation to avoid interruption, if necessary, to restore the service urgently.
The mayor explained that this measure is in addition to other actions put in place by the City Council for the protection of people with low resources, such as bonuses in municipal taxes and aid to address situations of need, aimed at alleviating situations of social emergency.
