The Surveillance and Rescue service on beaches has counted this year with 40 rescuers in the 8 beaches of the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor from June 16 to September 30.
The Surveillance and Rescue Service on the beaches of San Pedro del Pinatar, made up of 40 rescuers, has been operational from June 16 to September 30, with 3,261 visits, of which the majority have been assistance, such as consultations and information (746) and assistance to the bathroom and access to the beach for the disabled (656).
In this period have also been attended wounds cures, insect bites, jellyfish stings, allergies and lipotimias, among other incidents.
In addition, the rescuers have carried out rescues of 6 people and 6 boats, have located 16 people who had lost and have attended 6 asphyxiation by immersion, saving the life to 5 people and having to mourn a death by drowning.
As for the age group, the majority of the attentions have been registered in over 60 years (817) 25.22%, and in children 0 to 14 years (773) 23.86%.
The beach with the most demands for assistance has been Villananitos (1,065), as it is one of the most affluent and where there is one of the accessible points for the handicapped bathroom.
The rescue workers have counted 9 rescue boats, 6 watchtowers, 5 proximity chairs, 4 amphibious chairs, 2 sets of water crutches, 2 rescue bikes, 2 rescue boats, 2 quad and 2 off-road vehicles.
In addition, this year a new computer system was implemented, developed by the Department of New Technologies, so that all information and incidents were transferred to the moment, through a tablet, from the rescue stations to the Municipal Emergency Service, allowing greater control of the situation of the beaches.
