This consultative body made up of public officials, representatives of the different political groups, associations, businessmen, and other agents involved in the tourism sector has addressed the Strategic Tourism Plan of San Pedro del Pinatar, as well as the current and future state of the sector in the location.
The plenary meeting of the City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar today hosted the first meeting of the Sectorial Council of the locality, a body composed of 26 members and has among its functions the review of the Strategic Tourism Plan of the municipality, dating from 2013, as well as to collect the proposals of the different groups to improve the tourist services of the locality and to deepen in the deseasonalization.
Visitación Martínez explained that this Sectorial Council is in addition to the policy of citizen participation, transparency and open government promoted by the Government Team.
For what, he added, was born with the objective of encouraging the participation of agents involved in the municipal and regional tourism.
For his part, the Director General of the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, Manuel Fernández-Delgado has praised this municipal initiative whose purpose is "to put in value the will to strengthen San Pedro del Pinatar as a star tourism municipality in the Region ".
In addition, it has indicated that the Autonomous Community will continue working on the dynamization of the sector through the diversification and specialization of tourism products, mainly oriented to the deseasonalization.
Thus, the Tourism Council will work on the following strategic lines: Promote the geographical quality of the Mediterranean Sea and Mar Menor;
promote the unification of tourism destination image;
increase employment and help the sectors involved with tourism and bet on the value of the cultural tourism resources of the municipality.
From these strategic lines will be proposed concrete actions to implement in the municipality counting with the contributions of the 26 members of the council, with a wide and varied qualification in the tourism sector.
Thus, this sectoral Council will be a channel for citizen participation in which the agents involved in the municipal tourism area, together with political representatives and municipal technicians with an advisory nature will establish reports, proposals, and suggestions for improvement in the issues related to tourism municipal.
In the session of constitution after presenting the lines of action of the strategic plan of tourism in force, a period of two weeks has been granted so that the agents involved in contact with their entities can draw up a list of improvements that frame the roadmap of the sessions of the Council.
At the moment of prayers and questions, the agents involved have been very active by providing suggestions, improvements and committing themselves to contribute the opinions of the rest of the members of their entities.
COMPOSITION OF THE COUNCIL
According to Article 28 of the Municipal Citizen Participation Regulations, the council has the voice and vote of the mayor, Visitation Martinez, the Councilor for Tourism, Silvia Egea;
the representative of the Popular Party, Fuensanta García, the PSOE representative, José Lorenzo Martínez Ferrer, the Citizens' representative, José Luis Ros and Sergio Alejo Pérez, for Ganar San Pedro.
In addition to three people of special importance, designated by the Mayor as president of the Tourism Sector Council, who proposed to Manuel Fernández Delgado, General Director of the Institute of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Luengo, General Director of the Mar Menor and Pedro Javier Sánchez, Councilor for the Environment of San Pedro del Pinatar;
for knowing firsthand all matters of interest to this sectoral tourism council, at the regional and local level.
This proposal has been endorsed and approved by all members of the board present, except the representative of Citizens.
In addition to this council, representatives of the associative fabric in the tourist field, such as Roberto Codón, of the Association of neighbors of El Mojón;
María del Mar Baños, of the association Nuestra Señora Virgen del Carmen;
Ricardo Escribano, representing the nautical clubs, Victor Egea, of the Association of bars of San Pedro and Angel Maria López, of the Association Union of Businessmen Pinatarenses, who has also been elected vice-president of the Council unanimously.
The Council is completed with José Antonio Albaladejo Lucas and Juan José Alcaraz as representatives of tourist accommodations;
José Catalá as representative of thalassotherapy centers, Jesús Gómez, of the Fishermen's Guild, Teresa Salinas, of the Regional Parish Visitor Center;
Fernando de la Gándara, of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography, María José Hernández in representation of the restoration, the chapter of processions Mariano Visedo, the president of the Nautical Station, Amador Ferrer and the municipal technicians of Tourism, Maria del Mar López, and Participation Citizen, Eva González.
At this point, the mayor hareiterado that the composition of this Sectorial Council, as well as its process of renewal, is regulated by the Regulation of Municipal Citizen Participation, and has considered "a repeated lack of respect for its members the criticism by the Citizens group to its ruled conformation. "
Visación Martínez expressed his gratitude for the involvement shown by the members of the Council.
