The Director General of the Tourism Institute, Manuel Fernández-Delgado, participated this week in the creation of the Sectoral Tourism Council of San Pedro del Pinatar, composed of entrepreneurs from the tourism sector of the municipality and representatives of the regional and municipal administration, and whose objective is to determine in a consensual manner those actions designed to promote the promotion and positioning of the destination aligned with the regional strategy.
Manuel Fernández-Delgado said that "San Pedro is one of the most emblematic municipalities of the Mar Menor, with a great tourism potential, so the contribution of the Community to this new body is to transfer the strategy of diversification and structural change included in the Plan Strategic regional, focused especially to reduce seasonality and create more quality employment, to the specific needs of the destination ".
This Council is made up of a total of 26 members, among whom are the general directors of the Institute of Tourism and the Mar Menor, Manuel Fernández-Delgado and Antonio Luengo, respectively, representatives of all the political groups that make up the City Council, businessmen of the sector, representatives of associations and tourism experts linked to the municipality.
Battery of performances
As recalled Fernández-Delgado, "the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar has benefited from the advertising campaign of the Tourism Institute launched this summer, 'This is my Mar Menor and is bigger than you imagine', with visibility in international, national and regional press, radio, television, Internet, external supports and social networks ".
It has also been one of the destinations in which the Nautical Tourism Campaign has been carried out in the Mar Menor for schoolchildren, in which more than 5,400 students from 90 schools in the Region have participated.
In addition, the municipality has been the scenario this year of various events included in the Sports Tourism Promotion Plan, such as the Spanish Padel Surf Cup or the Mar Menor Endurance Swim.
Likewise, the hotels of the municipality welcomed participants of the Grand Prize of Archery held in San Javier.
Likewise, the municipality stops several familiarization trips programmed for the whole year for national and international operators, as well as for specialized press.
In the same way, San Pedro is included in the program of free guided tours of tourism, with an itinerary destined to publicize the natural wealth of the Regional Park of Las Salinas and Arenales.
Regarding training, the Institute of Tourism has taken the formative decentralization to the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar through the organization of four courses for both active and unemployed workers.
