The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, explained that since taking office, formulas have been sought for the rehabilitation of the Floridablanca Spa, in coordination with the regional and state administrations, a complex process, after having closed in 2009 and for its location within the Mar Menor.
Visitación Martínez has reiterated that since 2011, the year in which he assumed the mayor's office, various formulas have been studied to make the function of the building compatible, with a part destined for a museum, another for a spa and another restoration area;
being its firm commitment to fight to recover this emblem of the locality, cataloged by its cultural relevance.
In this regard, he recalled that the City Council has already financed this year the drafting of the basic project, which has been sent to the competent agencies to issue an environmental report, prior to the modification of the state concession.
Visitación Martínez added that this commitment is extensive to the regional administration, which has also committed a grant of 810,000 euros for the restoration of this local icon.
As for the state of the building, has explained the difficulty of maintaining the spa in good condition, given the deterioration that this suffers in its structure since it was closed.
Likewise, he added that a periodic maintenance is carried out, with the last cleaning before the summer.
In addition to disinfection and deratization tasks monthly and fencing is maintained for security reasons.
The mayor has lamented that "Citizens instead of joining forces to get a rehabilitated spa resort to try to get political revenue, staining the image of the municipality."
