Relatives, friends and colleagues remembered yesterday this young pinatarense died in 2016 and left in the municipality many projects aimed at alternative leisure, audiovisual art, music or theater.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the family of Juan Martínez Juliá, discovered yesterday the plaque with his name in the Center for Leisure, Leisure and Emerging Arts of the municipality, where he developed an important work in the youth field .
The February plenary session of San Pedro del Pinatar unanimously approved a motion to appoint the Space for Leisure, Free Time and Emerging Arts as "Juan Martínez Juliá", a young person from Pinar del Rio who died unexpectedly on May 3, 2016, leaving the municipality a multitude of projects aimed at alternative leisure, audiovisual art, music or theater.
Visitación Martínez highlighted "his enthusiasm, creativity and ability to work, qualities that made him a reference for all", adding that "Juan's work with young people has marked a path in municipal youth policies, promoting innovative projects and different. "
For his part, the sister of the honoree, María Martínez, thanked the presence of dozens of colleagues and friends, who wanted to remember Juan in this act, those who shared with him passions and projects, and asked that the Center for Leisure and Emerging Arts , which now bears his name, is a place that is always alive, full of creativity and positivity, qualities that defined it.
At the Center for Leisure and Emerging Arts you can also see from yesterday a large mural, made by the mural artist Goyo 203, which reflects the sincere smile and open character of Juan Martínez.
In addition, the act was closed with a performance of musicians and groups with whom he collaborated, such as Jesus Maciá (Darknoise), David Garcerán (Greskand), Ivan Tirado, and the bands "Requiem" and "My Wild Side".
Among other initiatives, Juan Martínez Juliá developed, in collaboration with Juventud, actions such as the Emerge 2013-2015 project, through which he guided young people in the municipality in video editing, graphic design, making short films, etc .;
the Zero experiment, an audiovisual-theatrical show;
the play Peter Pan, his participation in the horror show La Salida, the digital youth agenda Blue I;
the participatory audiovisual program Season Zero or the development of an artistic classroom in the leisure center.
He also collaborated with the local institutes in the development of a high-capacity workshop or participating in a campaign to raise awareness against Bullying.
