The House of Culture yesterday welcomed the commemoration of the International Day of Volunteering of the Spanish Red Cross in the Region, in an act that highlighted the commitment of the almost 3,000 volunteers of this organization in 23 municipalities of the Region.
During the event, the regional president of the Red Cross in the Region, Faustino Herrero, the president of the North Mar Menor regional committee, José Cortés, and the local mayor, Visitación Martínez, gave various awards to 20 volunteers whose work has highlighted in 2017, among which were Genaro Cortés and Sergio Alejo Pérez, from Pinar del Rio.
Visitación Martínez highlighted the altruistic and solidary work of the Red Cross volunteers, as well as the roots of this association in the municipality where it carries out a great social work through different projects such as food distribution, foster care,
Ortoprosthetic bench, assisted transport, telecare;
actions to promote volunteering, Maritime Rescue, training for young people, etc.
