The Mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, accompanied by the Minister of Tourism of the Region of Murcia, Javier Celdrán, and the Councilor for Tourism of the town, Slvia Egea, presented today at the stand of the Murcia Region of FITUR the tourist offer of the town for 2018, which reinforces the campaign "Salt Paradise", orienting it to family tourism with new proposals such as more guided tours, activities on the beaches in winter or a gastronomic event with the shrimp of the Mar Menor as the protagonist.
The mayor explained that the proposal of San Pedro del Pinatar this year focuses on strengthening the campaign "Salt Paradise", focusing on family tourism and throughout the year, through major lines such as nature, health and welfare and gastronomy.
In the area of ecotourism, the mayor recalled that San Pedro del Pinatar has the Parque de Salinas y Arenales, an area of 856 hectares with a peculiar landscape dominated by salt ponds, natural beaches, pine forests and dunes.
This space is also the refuge of hundreds of migratory birds, which makes it an ideal destination for nature lovers.
From the Town Hall, in collaboration with the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia every year more than twenty free tourist routes are promoted to make this space known, with different proposals, from short and accessible routes, to bicycle routes, under the light of the moon or specialized in bird watching, for ornithological enthusiasts.
At this point, Visitación Martínez has announced that this year will double the tourist visits coordinated by the council during the holidays and weekends, with new proposals as more urban and cultural routes.
Health and wellness tourism is one of the most established lines in San Pedro del Pinatar thanks to the famous sludge from the salt ponds, which make up the largest open-air spa in Europe and which has been the seed for the start-up and consolidation of several thermal centers specialized in thalassotherapy and mud therapy, which combine curative and preventive treatments with beauty and maintenance treatments.
To complete this offer in low season, the mayor has announced that the City will launch this winter various activities on the urban beaches of Mar Menor for the whole family, such as environmental workshops, playroom, gymkhana, bubble football, etc.
Another novelty for 2018 will focus on gastronomy, the third pillar of the tourist campaign of San Pedro del Pinatar, and which aims to highlight local products, such as fish and seafood from Mar Menor, salted fish and the traditional cauldron
Thus, in the last quarter of the year, coinciding with one of the shrimp capture campaigns, a great gastronomic event will be held by the Fishermen's Association of the locality and the hospitality sector.
Also throughout the year visits to the fish market will be promoted, to spread the fishing tradition of the town.
Visitación Martínez added that this tourist offer is completed with a complete agenda of activities throughout the year with sporting and recreational events, cultural events and traditional celebrations.
The presentation has ended with the screening of a promotional video in which you can see a family enjoying San Pedro del Pinatar during a winter weekend and the distribution of some colorful bookmarks with flamenco as the protagonist.
