The Plenary of the City Council has approved a joint motion signed by all political groups and the council not attached to put this new green area the name of this neighbor of the town, known fisherman and owner of the land where the aforementioned is being built Park.
The City Council Plenary today approved a joint motion of PP, PSOE, Citizens, Win San Pedro and the council not attached to the park located at the confluence of Reyes Católicos, El Sol and Avenida Las Salinas streets, bear the name of José Castejón García "El Guijas", responding to the proposal presented by more than thirty relatives and neighbors.
Thus, this park will pay a posthumous tribute to José Castejón García (1898-1991), a well-known fisherman who fished in waters of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic as the patron of "La Barca" and was also skilled in arts such as "la palanza" in waters of the Mar Menor in small boats.
"El Guijas" lived all his life in San Pedro del Pinatar, specifically on the road to Las Salinas and he owned the land known as Puerto Pinatar, where the park is located.
With this initiative, the Plenary responds to a neighborhood demand and also places value on the figure of a Pinar del Rio resident, thus recording his legacy as part of local history.
Among other items on the agenda, the plenary session has also approved a motion presented by the Popular group aimed at supporting the figure of the remand permanent prison, incorporated into the Spanish legal system by the Organic Law 1/2015, after which from the Congress deputies are carrying out initiatives aimed at repealing it.
Angela Gaona has defended that there are many citizens who have expressed their support for the penalty of permanent prison reviewable as a means to ensure the safety, rights and freedoms of all Spaniards.
This motion has had the vote in favor of the Popular Party and the non-attached councilor, the abstention of Citizens and the vote against the Socialist Party and Win San Pedro.
