The project Pescados con Arte, aims to highlight the fishing that is captured by artisanal fishermen in the locality and promote the consumption of sustainable fishing products, has carried out a new activity in the municipality.
The restaurant El Parras of San Pedro del Pinatar has hosted this morning an informative session held by the association Columbares in the framework of the project "Fish with Art", which aims to publicize the social, environmental, cultural and gastronomic value of the fishing captured in an artisanal way in the Murcian coast of Almeria and promoting the consumption of sustainable fishing products.
The day consisted of a gastronomic workshop with the chanquete as the protagonist, a seasonal fish that is caught with a fishing gear called "jábega rebajada", highly selective, that those interested have been able to know through the theater and the informative days. last saturday at the Pepe Rivera de Lo Pagán Fish Market and who have learned to cook, from the hand of José Andreu, Pepe El Parras, this morning at the gastronomic workshop that the project has organized at the El Parras Restaurant (Casino de San Pedro del Pinatar).
Through these activities, in addition, attendees have been able to learn about other species that are caught in the Mar Menor with artisanal fishing gear and discover the secrets to be a responsible consumer of fish.
The project will return to the municipality later with other actions to raise awareness of the fish market, the museum of the sea and the environment of the Mar Menor to audiences of all ages.
The Fish with Art project promotes the enhancement of traditional fishing and responsible consumption, with the collaboration of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment, through the Pleamar program of the European Maritime Fund and of Fishing, in collaboration with the Daniel and Nina Carrasso Foundation.
In San Pedro del Pinatar they also have the support of the City Council, the Fishermen's Association, Pepe Rivera Fish Market and El Parras Restaurant.
