The general director of Commerce, Consumption and Administrative Simplification of the Community, Francisco Abril, and the councilman of Commerce and Consumption, Lydia Sanchez, Francisco Abril, visited today the bakery José Antonio, in Lo Pagán.
José Antonio Bakery is a family business that since 1906 has been making artisan confectionery, combining the tradition with more innovative products, such as prawns or chocolate peppers or the "Murciatone", created by the Regional Association of Pastry Entrepreneurs.
Among other recognitions, this pinatarense company obtained in 2017 the Mercury prize, granted by the Chamber of Commerce of Murcia.
From the hand of the company manager, Patricia Pérez, they have known the process of making products such as bread, the typical cordial, the marujas, the hair cakes, or the "Murciatone", a variety of the 'Panettone' elaborated with fruits of the Region.
During the visit they were also able to see how this company disseminates the artisan tradition with workshops and courses in which they explain to the little ones the process of making these sweet delicacies, receiving up to 40 schools per year.
The general director of Commerce, Francisco Abril, has anticipated that San Pedro del Pinatar will host this year an event focused on artisanal gastronomy, in order to put in value products such as confectionery, paprika, honey or oil, among others varieties that have the seal of craftsmanship.
For her part, Lidia Sánchez highlighted the initiative of Panadería José Antonio and her work to preserve quality products for more than 100 years, and she has reiterated the support of the town hall for local commerce.
