The Solidarity Basket project is funded with 31,500 euros to subsidize projects of local associations that collaborate with the distribution of food to families at risk of social exclusion, while 21,500 euros have been allocated to initiatives of socio-health associations at the local level .
The mayoress of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, together with the councilor of Participación Ciudadana, Fuensanta García, and the director of the business area of ​​Caixabank in Cartagena, Carlos Merelo, today handed out the grants awarded in December 2017 to these two Projects.
Visitación Martínez explained that the Solidarity Basket project was born in 2013 with the aim of supporting and completing the work carried out by local associations that collaborate with the Food Aid Plan of the Region, through the distribution of basic needs products to families in risk of social exclusion.
This project has been growing and currently 31,500 euros are allocated to it, 30,000 from the City Council and 1,500 from Obra Social La Caixa.
Thus, through the Solidarity Basket local associations add to the products received from the food bank other perishable, in order to provide a healthy and complete diet to the most needy families in the town.
The beneficiary associations of this project are Cáritas Parroquial, with a subsidy of 13,326 euros, Red Cross Mar Menor North, with 9,692 euros, and Amor por Amor, with 8,482 euros.
SOCIO-NATIONAL PROJECTS
During the ceremony, subsidies were also given to local socio-health associations.
This line of aid was created in 2016 and a year later the budget line for it was tripled.
Thus, this project endowed with 20,000 euros from the municipal budget and has a contribution of 1,500 euros from Obra Social La Caixa.
The purpose is to contribute to the help and welfare of the sick and relatives of local associations working in this field.
Thus, seven projects have been subsidized in this area.
The Spanish Association Against Cancer has received € 3,161 for the project "Flamenco Rosa, curative therapy in the prevention of breast cancer in the Mar Menor";
the same amount contributed to Aidemar by the initiative "Family and disability: take care of the caregivers" and AFEMAR for the development of "San Pedro del Pinatar, take care of your mental health".
The Alzheimer's Association Mar Menor has also obtained € 3,161 for the project for caregivers "And who cares for us?";
For its part, the Association of Adapted Sports Mar Menor received 3,109 euros for the teaching and practice of adapted sailing for people with disabilities and reduced mobility;
Cruz Roja Mar Menor Norte obtained 3,161 euros for the start-up of an orthoprosthetic bank, and ASENFIFA received 2,586 euros for "Hydrotherapy and aquatic physiotherapy for fibromyalgia patients".
