A total of 741 athletes from all the communities will participate in this tournament next Sunday, March 4, at the cross circuit of the municipal sports center.
The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez-Cachá, announced today that on March 3 and 4 will be held in San Pedro del Pinatar the Championship of Spain School Age Through cadet, youth and adpatado, by regional selections.
Accreditation of all athletes will be held on Saturday March 3 in the sports hall of San Pedro del Pinatar, as well as recognition of the circuit and training.
On Sunday, March 4, all the tests will be held.
It will open the day, at 10:30 am, the competition cadet and adapted female, with a distance of 3,000 meters.
Next, the men's cadet and adapted race will be played, with 5,000 meters, then the female youth, with 4,000 meters, and will close the male youth category, which has a distance of 6,000 meters.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
The first three finishers of each event will receive a medal, both individually and by regional teams.
The counselor expressed her "satisfaction" for the designation of the Region of Murcia to organize a new championship of Spain, which "consolidates us as a reference for the celebration of major sporting events that generate an important social and economic return."
The holder of Sports also stressed "the good moment that regional sports are experiencing".
He added that, "in addition to this competition, the Region will host two other championships of the National School Sports Program in 2018. Specifically, the Table Tennis for children and cadet in Murcia, from April 28 to 30, and the de Vóley Playa cadete in Lorca, from June 29 to July 1 ".
For his part, the Councilor for Sports of San Pedro del Pinatar, Javier Castejon, stressed that this championship will be held in the local cross circuit, opened in December 2016 and since its implementation has hosted important field trips to through, mountain bikes, athletics, etc.
Likewise, he pointed out that the City Council of Pinar del Rio "works on the improvement and expansion of sports facilities with the aim of offering a competent, wide and varied sports offer, aimed mainly at promoting grassroots sports".
During the presentation of the sporting event, which was also attended by the councilman of Celebrations, Youth and Sports of the aforementioned municipality, Javier Castejón, along with the representatives of the regional federations of Athletics and Sports for People with Intellectual Disability, José Zomeño, Martínez- Cacha explained that young athletes can compete in the modalities of Cadet, Youth and Adapted.
The organization of this championship, convened by the Higher Sports Council, was awarded on November 27, 2017 to the Community, following the request made by the General Directorate of Sports.
The 17 communities and the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla will participate, with a total of 741 athletes, 133 technicians and 38 judges.
