The ninth edition of the Villa de San Pedro Procession Marches Contest also included the tribute to the Processionist of the Year, a distinction that the General Cabildo de Agrupaciones awarded this year Francisco Albaladejo.
The Church of the Holy Trinity hosted last night, March 16, the IX Procession Composition Contest of Holy Week Villa de San Pedro, in which the play "Death of Aís" by Juan Linares was the winner.
During the act, the band Unión Musical de San Pedro performed the five finalist marches, of the 25 presented.
The jury won as the winner the march "Death of Aís", a first prize endowed with 1,000 euros, also the march was given to the group of the Prayer in the Garden, of the Brotherhood of the Christ of the Forgiveness.
The second prize, worth 500 euros was for "That Holy Thursday", by Antonio Moreno, while the work "Flagelación", by Miguel Mateos, won the third prize of 300 euros.
The fourth prize of 100 euros went to "Lamentos" by José Luis Ruiz, while the fifth prize, also of 100 euros, went to the play "La Gula" by Crescencio Sánchez.
The jury was chaired by Rafael López Bueno, president of the Villa de San Pedro Musical Union and composed by the composition and direction experts Juan José Navarro Hernández, Pedro Contreras Almela, Javier Pérez Albaladejo and José Miguel Rodilla Tortajada.
This contest is organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism, the General Chapter of Holy Week and the Musical Union San Pedro del Pinatar.
PROCESSIONIST OF THE YEAR
During the ceremony, the title of Processionist of the year was also presented, which the Cabildo granted this year to Francisco Albaladejo, who for over 30 years was an outstanding member of the board of directors of La Cruz Nude.
