Las Salinas Avenue already has a new green area in front of the Health Center, the José Castejón García Park "El Guijas", a recreational area on one of the busiest roads in the city.
The mayor recalled that the City Council approved in February unanimously the name of this park as José Castejón García "El Guijas", responding to the proposal submitted by more than thirty relatives and neighbors.
Thus, this park will pay a posthumous tribute to José Castejón García (1898-1991), a well-known fisherman who fished in waters of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic as the patron of "La Barca" and was also skilled in arts such as "la palanza" in waters of the Mar Menor in small boats.
He lived all his life in San Pedro del Pinatar, specifically on the road to Las Salinas and he owned the land known as Puerto Pinatar, where the park is located.
The creation of this space is also the solution to a demand from the neighbors, which has finally been solved with the creation of this green area, executed on a surface of 1,047 square meters and that has meant an investment of more than 50,000 euros.
The park has a striking children's play area, in addition, the problem of unevenness of the land has been solved thanks to the combination of inclined and flat green areas, and has been equipped with urban furniture.
