The beach of La Puntica has been the place chosen for the disembarkation of the Sardine, which has arrived aboard a boat crewed by the BCS Dragon Boat Flamenco Rosa team, made up of local women who have overcome a cancer;
later it has paraded through the streets of the town with groups of sardiners and comparsas.
San Pedro del Pinatar today gave the starting signal for the Burial of the Sardine festivities;
its protagonist, arrived after 18:00 hours at the beach of La Puntica, where a large audience awaited her with expectation.
Those in charge of disembarking the Sardine in the locality were the members of the Dragon Boat BCS "Flamenco Rosa" team, local women who have overcome cancer and have this sport as part of their therapy.
The party began earlier in the streets of Lo Pagán, with several charangas that have enlivened the coastal district while waiting for the arrival of this "luxury tourist", who will remain in the municipality until next Thursday.
After being received with honors on the beach, by the mayor, Visitación Martínez, and the president of the Sardinera Association, José Antonio Sánchez, to the sound of the Huapango charanga and a batucada;
La Sardina has paraded through the streets of the town, accompanied by the 23 sardiner groups, the local groups Kebanna, Glamorous Stars, New Wave of the Mar Menor, San Pedro Apóstol School and visiting troupes.
The procession culminated in front of the City Council, where the mayor, Visitación Martínez, thanked the sardine group that has chosen San Pedro del Pinatar as the municipality of arrival of the Sardine and promised to take care of it as it deserves and show the many charms of the municipality until next Thursday , day that will be delivered to the city of Murcia in another parade through the streets of the capital.
The day ended with a great party in the Plaza Luis Molina, in front of City Hall, with the performances of Andrés Ballester and Salva Ortega and beer tasting.
These acts have been organized by the City of San Pedro del Pinatar, with the collaboration of local sponsors Grupo Caliche, Cubiplaya and Zambú Hygiene.
