With these sessions, the City Council intends to encourage the participation of children and young people in municipal life, as well as to listen and watch over their rights.
The Plenary Hall of the City of San Pedro del Pinatar, hosted on Friday April 13 the first plenary session of the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents, chaired by the Mayor, Visitación Martínez, and formed by 17 children and adolescents from the centers of the town, in addition to the councilors of Social Welfare, Francisca Pelegrín, and Citizen Participation, Fuensanta García, a representative of the Associations of Parents of Students and municipal technicians.
In this first session they were introduced to the members of the Council and, after the vote, Nadine Andreea Ciobanu was elected Vice-President.
Subsequently, proposals for improvements to the municipality and suggestions for activities that children and youth presented in participatory workshops and mailboxes installed in schools, institutes and municipal centers were presented.
Among them stands out the improvement of security in access to the school with more pedestrian and traffic lights, the increase of bike lanes and improvement of asphalting of streets, more presence of recycling containers, promotion of sports, as well as creating a group of Scouts, more cleaning on beaches and parks, or the expansion of green areas.
The creation of the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents and this first session of the Ordinary Plenary, aims to promote participation, information and training of children and adolescents in municipal life.
In addition, facilitate the active collaboration of children and adolescents in municipal policies and propose to the municipal administration the appropriate measures to ensure the welfare and development of children's rights at the local level.
